Alpha Guitars is based in the
pretty market town of Alcester in Warwickshire, just 8 miles north of
Shakespeare's Stratford-on-Avon, 20 miles south of Birmingham and within easy
reach of motorway junctions with the M40, M42 and M5.
The family owned business is run by husband and wife
team, Stewart and Lorna Preston. Lorna takes care of the business side of
things whilst Stewart uses his expertise to carefully select the stock, run the
shop and send out your orders. |
Stewart
has had a varied musical life, learning Hawaiian guitar early on and travelling
through India developing an eclectic mix of styles. His experience in bands was
based around the busily competitive London area in the 1970's, where no-one
without a clearly outstanding talent survived the scene for long.
These days, Stewart mostly plays locally, splitting
his time between his family, Alpha Guitars and live performances. Stewart's two
sons also have musical talents, but it's a little too early to predict how far
they will choose to take them!
When asked about his favourite guitar, and
what it might be, Stewart replied, "Oh well, obviously I love the JJ guitars,
Blades and Traditions, but at the end of the day, the sound and the feel are
the thing that matters. Be comfortable with your instrument." Stewart knows
what he's saying. Unlike some younger sales assistants in some large stores,
Stewart offers real-world knowledge and advice. That's something you can't put
a price on: expert service!
